The magazine offers an easy entry point for new browsers and a forum for expression for the creative community. It is the face of the jotta community spotting trends, identifying the most exciting arts and design activity and including interviews, profiles and studio visits from the creative community.

Alternatively, jotta's Featured Artists page showcases and examines artists in depth or users can browse and contribute to jotta's forum pages where key issues are discussed across the disciplines.

jotta uses the connection building elements of social networking and combines them with tools that actually allow users to creatively develop and exploit their work, along with vehicles that showcase their talent to a wider audience.

An area within jotta that offers a simple way for users to organise their work, and for your contemporaries, agencies and buyers to access and browse through your projects. Your jotta Portfolio page allows you to do all the things you'd expect from a community site: build your profile, browse through other users' pages, send messages, leave feedback and add people to your network. But it also provides several new functions aimed squarely at the creative user.

The benefits
Whether you work within one discipline or many, you can house all your output in a single, convenient space. Using jotta's Portfolio system users can organise their work, choose partners for collaboration, interact with the commercial world, use web based creative tools, interact with other users and respond to commercial briefs, job openings and collaboration opportunities in the Marketplace.

To create a portfolio you must be a member of the site. Once a member, jotta offers users a unique set of creative tools to build, manage, share and update content within your portfolio.

You can upload work from your Portfolio or create projects in the My Portfolio using the "upload content" button.

jotta accepts Video, Still, Audio or Written work in the following formats

All major image filetypes that are supported by web browsers can be uploaded to your project. This list includes but is not limited to JPEG, GIF, PNG.

Movies
MOV, AVI, MPEG, WMV

Audio
WAV, MP3

Text documents
Plain text files, Microsoft Word, PDF

Once you have created a Project from 'My Portfolio' select to 'Upload Content' and follow the instructions below to upload work

1. Click the 'Browse...' or 'Choose File…' button (dependent on browser) and navigate to your chosen file to upload.
2. Click Open on the file window to add the chosen file.
3. Your chosen file will appear in the "Files to upload" area.
4. Repeat the above steps to add more files to upload.
5. Once you have added all the required files, click on the "Upload files" button.
6. As your files upload, they will appear as new content items in the Content area.

If you like another jotta member's work, would like to collaborate, or simply have a chat with them, you can add them to your network via their profile or portfolio. Once they confirm your request, you will see them appear in your Network tab within your Profile page.

Once in your Network you can email them and speak live when they're online.

Once you've created a profile you will have an Inbox where you can email your network. Begin typing their name and the form will autofill their address.

Whether replying for a job or responding to a commercial opportunity the process is the same simple three-step process. Write a covering letter, paste in a brief CV or résumé about yourself and finally select work from your Portfolio to attach. If you are not a member of jotta, you must first join up and create a Portfolio to which you can upload your work.

Each brief will outline what is expected if your application is taken to the next stage. Please make sure you are prepared to put in the required work for the next stage before submitting your application. Only a handful of people, at most, will be asked to proceed to the next stage. This is to ensure you are given the best chance of succeeding.

jotta monitors the Marketplace by screening all briefs before they appear on the site. While we cannot accept responsibility for communications with external parties we are committed to creating a commercial space that respects artists and their intellectual property while providing commercial bodies with a platform to find the best in new talent.

Click on Groups to create a group. Select whether you want the group to be Public, Semi-Public, Private or Hidden. Public and Semi-Public groups are open to anyone, Private groups you must request to join, Hidden groups are hidden from view. Once your group is up you can add others to your network, upload content and post group discussion messages.

Unless 'Hidden' your group will appear in the groups page.
